Important things

It’s important for others or because it’s related to you? Don’t get puzzled with this. Maybe you feel that what you are doing will change other people’s lives, but in fact nobody cares about it. Sometimes you feel a feature will be the key success factor for your product, but in real life nobody is using it. The main objective of your marketing tasks is to translate into products, services, or features those aspects that are important and meaningful for others, not for you, so that everyone will value your company as it deserves.

Urgent vs. important

At the beginning of your life as an entrepreneur, you have lots of things to do, so it’s perhaps the first moment where you shall really distinguish among urgent tasks and important matters. Urgent jobs drive you crazy, because everyone needs whatever you do right now, with no delay, because it’s so crucial for their businesses. But this is far from reality. Neither so vital for their businesses, nor so immediate. Important tasks are those that will lead you to a sustainable competitive advantage, and since they are not so urgent and often led by yourself, you tend to postpone them until you have some time available. But this time never comes. Don’t paper over the cracks or your company will die before you can deal with what is really important to succeed.
